Mike is originally from Monroe, North Carolina and moved up to Lynchburg to go to Liberty in the Fall of 2006. Since then he has graduated with his B.S. in Religion and his Masters of Religious Education.
On August 9, 2014 Mike married the love his life, Jessica. They reside in Lynchburg with their dogs, Buddy and Bentley.
He enjoys long trips to the fishing pond, taking his dog, Buddy, out for runs and doing random crazy adventures with our students. The reason he does student ministry is that he wants to see students living for something other than themselves. This culture has taught us that we are meant to only live for ourselves and God tells us that this couldn’t be further from the truth. One of his favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6 which says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight.” It is his encouragement to anyone who is reading this to give your everything to God and hold nothing back from him, once you have done this, get ready for the ride of your life!
Birthday – December 9
Most Embarrassing Moment in High School – “In my first year of wrestling I had to wrestle the 215 lbs weight class and I barely weighed 180 lbs. At one of my first wrestling matches the newspaper was there and got a picture of me being pinned and it looked as if the guy was choking me out. I was on the front page of sports for getting pinned – not my proudest moment.”
First Car – A mixture of 1990-1991 Nissan Pick Up Truck. This truck had parts of both years and had over 500,000 miles, I have no clue how it was still running.
Coke or Pepsi – Mountain Dew or IBC Rootbeer in a glass bottle.
Best Prank You Ever Pulled – I put on a scarecrow outfit and waited for my mom to come out from getting ready to go out and scared her so bad she screamed, jumped and started hitting me all at the same time. It was one of the funniest moments ever.
Theme Song for High School Prom – Does this really exist?
